A 44-year-old woman from Margao is battling for her life after she was hit by a speeding rent-a-car at Sirlim. The accident, which was captured on a dashboard camera, showed the woman being flung off her two-wheeler after the vehicle struck her while speeding along the shoulder of the road.
The footage shows the impact throwing her onto the road in front of another moving car. The quick reaction of the driver of the car fitted with the dashboard camera prevented the woman from being run over after she fell directly in front of its wheels.
The victim was rushed to the district hospital
and later shifted to Goa Medical College, where she underwent a couple of surgeries after suffering multiple fractures to her hip, neck and legs.
Police have registered a case against the unidentified driver of the rental SUV.
Three youth from Maharashtra were reportedly detained late Tuesday evening.
