The youth of the state were called in to be the voice of the future at the Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament, South District, where over 70 college students shared their thoughts and views on ‘One Nation, One Election: Paving the way for Viksit Bharat’.
Speaking as the chief guest on the occasion, Fatorda MLA Vijai
Sardesai called upon the youth to study the issues and then forming their own opinions before speaking out their mind.

“The youth are not only the agents of change but also the beneficiaries of change. The youth don’t have to align with anyone’s vision, the youth have to align with its own vision of how India should develop before 2047. Believe in what you speak, but before you speak out you have to study the subjects. If I have not studied the subject, I won’t speak on it.
And if I have half knowledge of the subject then I don’t speak at all. To be well aware of the issues, you have to put in lot of efforts,” he added.

Sardesai exhorted the students not to speak
what their teachers expected them to speak, but to speak out what they believed in.

“Creating youth leaders is important. They need to be educated. Let them come from the grassroots. The problem today is that the youth think it is more about convenience than conviction. I am here to provoke you to think. Don’t be in a comfort zone. Believe what you
think and then talk about it,” he said.
Youth in the age group of 18 to 25 years participated in the two-day competition of the Government of India’s Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament for South District at the Don Bosco College of Engineering,
Fatorda.

The event created a platform for young minds to express their views on ‘One Nation, One Election.’

Ten best candidates from the South Zone and North Zone each will then proceed to the state contest and the top three will then participate the final round in New Delhi

Commenting further, Sardessai said, “For any parliament or assembly to survive, it is the opposition that adds the spice. If everyone speaks one language, it is not a democracy, it becomes a dictatorship. You should have your own views and have to think, you cannot be brainwashed.”
