Leader of Opposition (LoP) and Cuncolim MLA Yuri Alemao on Thursday called on locals of Chandor to keep Goa a top priority and protect it by defeating the BJP at the upcoming ZP polls, terming the election a “second opinion poll”.

“Goa’s interests are my top priority that the state must be protected from the BJP, which is insensitive to the collapse of law and order and neglecting the common man’s welfare,” said Alemao, speaking at a meeting at Chandor.

He alleged that the BJP government was trying to divide people on caste and religious lines and said that everyone should remain vigilant and defeat their agenda by voting them out in the election.

“BJP is mocking people over coal issue stating they are winning seats despite such destructive plans. Pollution is taking place in Goa due to coal transportation. This is not safe for our environment and our future,” Alemao said, calling on the people to send a clear message that they are here to protect Goa.

Alemao said that he is of opinion that all opposition parties should come together to protect Goa by defeating BJP. “Opposition has vote share of 67 per cent, we should not allow it to be divided. We need to unite and win,” he said.
