 ZP polls: 32 seats reserved  for women, OBCs, STs, SCs

The State Election Commission on Friday issued a notification declaring the reservation of seats for the forthcoming elections to  North Goa and South Goa zilla panchayats (ZPs).

Both zilla panchayats have 25 constituencies each.  The elections will be held on December 13, 2025 as the tenure of the current district panchayat bodies ends on January 7, 2026.

Out of the 50 seats, 32 segments have been reserved for women, other backward classes, scheduled tribes and scheduled castes.

In North Goa ZP, out of the 25 seats, 15 segments have been reserved; in South Goa ZP,  out of  the 25 segments, 17 seats have been reserved.

As per the notification issued   by Commissioner of the State Election Commission, in North Goa ZP, the seats reserved for women (general) are six –  Arambol, Colvale, Calangute, Reis-Magos,  Chimbel, and Maem; the seats reserved for women (OBC) are three – St Cruz, St Lawrence

and Morjim.

Four seats have been reserved for OBC  – Torxem, Anjuna, Pale, and  Honda.

The ZP segment of Querim has been reserved for SC, while Taleigao ZP seat has been reserved for ST.

Ten ZP seats in North Goa are unreserved (general) – Dhargal, Siolim, Aldona, Sirsai, Socorro, Penha-de-Franca,  Corlim,   Latambarcem, Karapur-Sarvan and Nagargao.

In South Goa ZP, the segments  reserved for women (general) are six – Veling-Priol, Borim, Shiroda, Barcem, Cortalim, and Usgao-Ganje; two seats have been reserved for women (OBC)  – Navelim and Cola, while Rivona ZP seat in Sanguem taluka has been  reserved for woman (ST).

Four ZP segments have been reserved for OBC candidates – Queula, Nuvem, Davorlim, and Curtorim; four seats have been reserved for ST nominees  – Curti, Raia, Guirdolim, and Sanvordem,  while eight seats are unreserved (general) in South Goa ZP – Betqui-Candola,  Colva, Velim, Benaulim,   Dharbandora,  Xeldem,  Poinguinim and Sancoale.
