Bayern Munich ease past Atalanta to set up Real Madrid clash in last-8

Madrid: Liverpool and FC Barcelona progressed to the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals with emphatic wins, while Bayern Munich completed a dominant aggregate victory over Atalanta to set up a last-eight clash with Real Madrid.

At Anfield, Liverpool overturned a first-leg deficit to register a 4-1 aggregate victory over Galatasaray. Dominik Szoboszlai opened the scoring before Hugo Ekitike and Ryan Gravenberch struck in quick succession after the restart. Mohamed Salah, who had earlier seen

a penalty saved, later curled in his 50th Champions League goal as Liverpool sealed a quarterfinal meeting with Paris Saint-Germain, although the forward was substituted late due to injury.

In Madrid, Barcelona thrashed Newcastle United 7-2 for an 8-3 aggregate win. Fermin Lopez, Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha led the charge. Lewandowski scored twice, while Raphinha also found the net as Barcelona pulled away to secure their place in the last eight.

Atletico Madrid advanced despite losing on the night, progressing 7-5 on aggregate against Tottenham Hotspur. Randal Kolo Muani had given the hosts the lead before Julian

Alvarez equalised after the restart. Xavi Simons restored the advantage for Tottenham, but David Hancko’s header ensured Atletico stayed ahead on aggregate. A late Simons penalty sealed the result on the night, though Atletico progressed to face Barcelona in the quarterfinals.

In Germany, Bayern Munich defeated Atalanta 4-1 to complete a 10-2 aggregate win. Harry Kane scored twice, including a retaken penalty.
