Domnic, Vishesh, Arun score to complete their second-half comeback

Calangute: Calangute Association produced a spirited second-half comeback to hold Clube de Salgaocar to a 4-4 draw in a thrilling Goa Professional League (Super League) encounter at Calangute, on Wednesday.

Salgaocar made a strong start and took the lead in the 16th minute when Felixson Fernandes tapped in from close range after a set-piece move involving Selwyn Miranda and Brian Faria. The visitors doubled their advantage in the 32nd minute through Royson Colaco, who finished off a well-timed run and cut-back following a headed pass from JoshuaD’silva.

Salgaocar extended their lead to 3-0 just before half-time when Royal Oliveira found the net in the 45th minute.

Calangute, however, responded strongly after the break. They were awarded a penalty in the 48th minute after a Salgaocar defender handled the ball, and Vishesh Nasnodkar converted from the spot, placing his shot into the bottom right corner.

Salgaocar restored their three-goal cushion in the 53rd minute when Joshua D’silva scored following a swift attacking move involving Salvador Gama and Royson Colaco.

Calangute began their fightback in the 65th minute when Domnic Fernandes found the net after a goalmouth scramble following a shot from Arun Naik that rebounded off the crossbar. Domnic then scored his second in the 74th minute with a low-driven effort from the edge of the box after a cut-back from Sheldon Pereira.

Calangute completed their comeback in the 90+1st minute when Arun Naik met a cross from Sheldon Pereira with a firm finish from inside the box to secure a 4-4 draw.
