She bags singles and doubles titles; Ishmeet wins boys’ singles
Navelim: Telangana’s Shanvi Reddy Nimma emerged as the standout performer at the Yonex-Sunrise U-13 National Ranking Badminton Tournament, clinching a double crown at the Manohar Parrikar Indoor Stadium on Monday, while in the boys’ section, Madhya Pradesh’s Ishmeet Arora claimed the singles title after a hard-fought final.
Shanvi won the girls’ singles title with a 21-9, 21-19 victory over Divisha Singh (Maharashtra) before teaming up with Lyosha Korukonda to secure the girls’ doubles crown, defeating Shaanvi P.N. and Shambhavi Sharma (Karnataka) 21-19, 21-18.
In the boys’ singles final, Ishmeet Arora (Madhya Pradesh) edged Sarthak Joshi (Uttarakhand) 22-20, 8-21, 21-19 in a closely contested three-game battle.
The boys’ doubles title went to Harshith Venkata Sai (Andhra Pradesh) and Hiten (Delhi), who overcame Amitesha A.K. and Athvik J.C. (Tamil Nadu) 21-18, 14-21, 21-14.
