Veer Yadav dazzles as they beat Salgaocar CC by three wickets

Panaji: Geno SC produced a sensational finish to edge past Salgaocar CC by three wickets and lift the Bandodkar League T20 Tournament title in the final at Panjim.

Salgaocar CC, electing to bat first, posted 217 for 6, powered by Shantanu Nevagi (68 off 43 balls), Piyush Yadav (57 off 34 balls) and Ayush Verlekar (48 not out off 15 balls). For Geno, Vikas Singh and Pundalik Naik picked up two wickets each.

In reply, Geno’s chase was anchored by a blistering 89 off 41 balls from Veer Yadav. He shared an 83-run stand with Kaushal (33.

For Salgaocar, Ruthvik Naik returned figures of 3/52 and kept his side in the contest with timely breakthroughs as wickets fell at regular intervals.

However, Nihal Surlakar (33 not out) and Samar Dubhashi (24) held their nerve in the final phase, with Surlakar sealing the win with a straight six off Ruthvik Naik when four runs were needed off the last two balls.

Veer Yadav was named Player of the Final, while Shantanu was adjudged Best Batsman, Pundalik Best Bowler and Yogesh Man of the Tournament.

Sameer Kakodkar was the chief guest for the final.
