Goa women suffered a nine-wicket loss to Andhra in the Under-23 Women’s Elite One-Day Tournament at the Maharana Pratap College Ground in
Dehradun, on Monday.

Put in to bat first, Goa were bundled out for 138 in 43.2 overs. The innings found stability through a 75-run third-wicket partnership between skipper Tanaya Naik and wicketkeeper Tanisha Gaikwad. Tanisha
top-scored with 47, while Tanaya made 34 after early wickets had left the side in trouble.

The rest of the batting line-up failed to add substantial runs as Goa lost wickets in
quick succession.

Vishnu Priya led Andhra’s bowling effort with 4 for 27, while B. Anusha finished with 2 for 12.

Andhra chased the target with authority, reaching 139 for 1 in just 28 overs.

G Udvitha struck 57 in a commanding 104-run opening stand with K. Mahanthi Sree, who remained unbeaten on 62 runs.

Harshita Yadav claimed Goa’s only wicket, as Goa’s the bowlers could not apply enough pressure as Andhra sealed victory comfortably.

Goa will now turn their focus to their final league match against Delhi on March 11.
