Sooryavanshi seeks game time in last series match
New Delhi: With the T20I series already sealed, India could make changes and give some game time to Vaibhav Sooryavanshi when they face Afghanistan in the inconsequential third match at the Ferozshah Kotla here today.
Captain Shreyas Iyer said the final game could provide opportunities to players who have been on the bench and allow India to alter their combination ahead of the Asian Games in Japan.
Sooryavanshi made his debut in England in July but could now find it difficult to break into the XI with Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma in good form. Ishan Kishan could be rested to accommodate the youngster.
Iyer and Tilak Varma may also get more time in the middle, while Nitish Kumar Reddy and Shivam Dube are yet to bat in the series.
Ravi Bishnoi, who replaced injured Varun Chakravarthy in the second T20I, could get another opportunity, with Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh having impressed with the new ball.
Afghanistan, meanwhile, need a stronger batting effort. Captain Ibrahim Zadran said his side must show greater intent and aim for a 200-plus total.
