Indian Wells: Daniil Medvedev produced a clinical display to defeat Carlos Alcaraz 6-3, 7-6(3) and book a place in the Indian Wells final against Jannik Sinner.

The Russian, seeded 11th, ended Alcaraz’s 16-match winning run this season and denied the fans a potential title clash between the Spaniard and Sinner.

Alcaraz entered the semifinal unbeaten in 2026 after winning titles at the Australian Open and Qatar Open, but Medvedev stayed composed in the crucial moments to seal a straight-sets victory.

It was Medvedev’s first win over Alcaraz since the 2023 US Open semifinals after losing their previous four meetings, including the 2024 Indian Wells final.

Sinner earlier advanced to the title clash with a convincing 6-2, 6-4 victory over Germany’s Alexander Zverev.

The Italian controlled the contest from the baseline and struck six aces during the 83-minute encounter. After Zverev held serve early, Sinner broke in the fifth and seventh games to claim the opening set and continued his dominance in the second.

With the victory, Sinner improved his head-to-head record against Zverev to 7-4.

Interestingly, neither Medvedev nor Sinner has dropped a set so far in the tournament, setting up a high-quality final between two of the tour’s most consistent performers.

In the doubles finals, Taylor Townsend and Katerina Siniakova captured the women’s title, while Guido Andreozzi and Manuel Guinard won the men’s doubles crown.
