Rutik, Austin score a goal each in their 2-0 win over Wilred Leisure SC

Chandor: Uguem Rising Club emerged champions of the 19th All Goa Guirdolim Panchayat Cup, defeating Wilred Leisure Sports Club, Curtorim, with a facile 2-0 lead win at the Chandor Church Sports Complex on Sunday.

Uguem RC dominated early proceedings, with forwards Rutik Bandodkar and Pratamesh constantly troubling the Wilred Leisure’s  defence. Midfielder

Austin delivered precise long balls, creating opportunities that paid off in the 9th minute for Uguem RC.

A freekick on the edge of the box by Pratamesh found Austin’s header in the net to give Uguem the lead.

Wilred fought back and had a brief spell of pressure, hitting the crossbar once and being denied by goalkeeper Tejas on another occasion. Uguem doubled their lead in the 18th minute when Rutik Bandodkar broke through on a counter, dribbling past Wilred’s  defence and slotting a placement shot beyond the keeper. Rutik thus became the only player to score in every match of the tournament which earned him the Player of the Tornament.

The second half saw Wilred push aggressively, but Tejas denied them on two clear chances, while Uguem adopted a defensive approach to protect their lead and lift the trophy.
