They triumph in Goa University inter-collegiate women’s powerlifting championship

Taleigao: VM Salgaocar College of Law, Miramar, powered its way to the Goa University Inter-Collegiate Powerlifting (Women) Championship 2025-26 title after a commanding show at the Silver Jubilee Hall, Goa University Campus.

Parvatibai Chowgule College of Arts & Science, Margao, and Don Bosco College, Panjim, finished joint runners-up, as the competition witnessed intense battles across weight categories and three new meet records.

The spotlight belonged to Rajashree Pednekar of Dempo Charities Trust’s Srinivassa Sinai Dempo College of Commerce & Economics, Cujira-Bambolim, who was crowned the ‘Strongest Woman’ (2025-26) after producing a standout performance in the 57 kg category.

A total of three records were broken, with Pednekar setting the tone in 57 kg (307.5 kg total), while Salgaocar’s Sakshi Haldankar rewrote the books in 84 kg (342.5 kg total) and Iram Khatri topped it off with a massive 370 kg total in the +84 kg division.

The prize distribution was graced by Sunder Dhuri, along with KS Rao, Manoj Hegde, Govind Ramnath and Balachandra Jadar.
