All India Congress Committee (AICC) media chairman Pawan Khera has demanded that the names of government officials and a minister allegedly named by main accused Pooja Naik in the cash-for-job scam be made public. He also sought their suspension, a judicial commission of inquiry into the scam, and the release of a white paper on government recruitment since 2019.
Khera said the Congress party will raise the issue at the national level, including in Parliament.
“Pooja Naik had named some people. The statement will be recorded. Naik has revealed names of a minister, an IAS officer and an engineer. We demand that those names should be made public,” said Khera, adding, “These people should be suspended from their posts. They will manipulate the investigation if they continue to be on the post. If they come clean after investigation, bring them back.”
Speaking at a press briefing at the Congress House in Panaji on Wednesday, Khera was joined by Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president
Amit Patkar and Goa Congress media chairman Amarnath Panjikar.
“We are demanding a judiciary commission of inquiry into this job scam and to release a white paper on government recruitment from 2019. We demand an audit of all recruitment done by the government,” said Khera.
He added that the trial should be conducted through a fast-track court. “It will benefit only when trial is conducted through the fast track court,” said Khera.
Referring to the scam, he said, “It is such a shameful act… it is not a bribe but a sin. We will take up the issue at the national level. Even at Parliament we will raise the issue and at AICC. We need to bring the guilty to the task.”
