IM Belurkar claims chess crown

International Master Nitish Belurkar of Goa won the Durga Motors Rapid Rated Chess Tournament–2026 held at Dr K.B. Hedgewar High School, Bambolim.

Belurkar remained unbeaten to score 8.5 points from nine rounds and clinch the title.

Candidate Master Niraj Saripalli finished second with eight points on better tie-break,
while International Master Ritviz Parab also scored eight to take third place.

Organised by the Rotary Club of Porvorim in association with the Tiswadi Taluka Chess Association and the Goa Chess
Association, the two-day event attracted 260 players.

The prize ceremony was graced by the presence of  Durga Motors owner Prateek Sapra, Pramod Dubale, Harsh Thakkar and Ashesh Keni.
