UP man held with narcotic substance in Colvale raid

Colvale police have arrested a 48-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh for allegedly possessing a narcotic substance suspected to be ganja worth
Rs 1.38 lakh.

The accused has been identified as Sunil Ramshirumani Tiwari, presently residing at Wadeshwar Nagar, Cuchelim, and a native of Uttar Pradesh.

Acting on specific intelligence and reliable information, a narcotics raid was conducted by a team of Colvale police led by PSI Ramachandra Satelkar between 8.25 pm and 10.45 pm on Wednesday.
The raid was carried out behind Dattatray Temple in the Housing Board
area of Colvale.

During the operation, the police apprehended the accused and seized from his possession 1.38 kilograms of ganja valued at
Rs 1.38 lakh. A mobile phone allegedly used during the commission of the offence was also seized.

In this connection, Colvale Police Station has registered an offence under Section 20(b)(ii)(B) of the NDPS Act, 1985.
The accused was produced before the JMFC, Mapusa, and has been remanded in five days’ police custody.
