Goa Police, in collaboration with the departments of prosecution, forensic science, prisons and health, is organising a three-day exhibition from March 26 to 28 at Kala Academy, Campal, to create awareness and promote understanding of the updated legal provisions among citizens.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Director General of Police Alok Kumar on Thursday.
“India is undergoing a paradigm shift from a colonial-era system rooted in ‘dand’ (punishment) to a progressive, citizen-centric framework focused on ‘nyaya’ (justice). The reforms aim to ensure faster, transparent and technology-driven delivery of justice,” Kumar said.
The exhibition features a 40-minute skit depicting key aspects of the Nyaya Sanhita, along with thematic awareness stalls aimed at educating students, stakeholders and the
general public about
the salient features and major reforms introduced under the new legal framework implemented from July 1, 2024.
The stalls depict stages in the criminal justice process, including the Police Control Room (PCR), scene of crime, police station, hospital, forensic science laboratory (FSL), e-Prosecution, e-Prisons and court.
Police stated that Goa has emerged as a national leader in implementing the Nyaya Sanhitas, securing the top position in the country. They stated that key highlights include 100 per cent achievement in administrative reforms, 92 per cent implementation of ICT applications such as e-Summons, Nyaya Shruti and MedLeaPR, and 100 per cent system integration across police, courts, prisons, forensic science and prosecution.
Strong compliance in Zero FIR, forensic integration and evidence-based investigation, along with a consistent conviction rate of approximately 70 per cent in completed trials,
has also been achieved, police stated.
