They maul Xpress Challengers by 134 runs
Chicalim: Legal Lions CPL clinched the Corporate Premier League (CPL) T20 Season 3 title, thrashing Xpress Challengers by 134 runs in a one-sided final at the SAG Cricket Ground, Chicalim, on Sunday.
Powered by a dominant batting effort, Legal Lions piled up a formidable 244 for 4 in their allotted 20 overs. Vitthalraj Sangodkar led the charge with a fluent 88, while Dattaraj Parab (55 not out) and Vrusaj Talaulikar (30 not out) provided a strong finish. For Xpress Challengers, Peter Fernandes was the standout bowler with figures of 3 for 18. In reply, Xpress Challengers faltered under pressure and were bowled out for 110 in 15.4 overs despite Tejesh Sawant’s 32 and contributions from Diptesh Babrekar (26) and Fernandes (18). Gajanan Korgaonkar (3-22) and Pravin Gawas (3-32) spearheaded the bowling effort, with Raghu Parab chipping in with 2 for 3.
Sangodkar was adjudged Man of the Match for his match-winning knock. Fernandes was named Man of the Series, while Sangodkar also bagged the Best Batter award and Korgaonkar was declared Best Bowler of the Series.
Legal Lions emerged champions, with Xpress Challengers finishing runners-up and Andrew Thunderbolts securing third place.
