Goa-based Vinsan Graphic Production on Monday launched its Marathi feature film ‘Bandkhor’ at a ‘muhurat’ ceremony attended by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, who gave the inaugural clap.

Producer Sanjay Shetye and actor-director Mahesh Manjrekar were present along with members of the cast and crew. The film will be directed by Manjrekar, in his first collaboration with a Goan production house.

Speaking on the project, Shetye said the film is about women and how they deal with personal and social challenges. It looks at women from different backgrounds and shows their choices, goals, and daily lives.

The film will be shot entirely in Goa, with the production set to involve local actors and technicians across departments.

Addressing the event, Sawant said Goa continues to position itself as a film-friendly state, citing the annual International Film Festival of India as well as the growing number of shoots across the state.

He said the Entertainment Society of Goa has put in place a single-window clearance system to streamline permissions and continues to extend support, including subsidies, to filmmakers. He added that the government is working to attract more productions to the state.

Sawant also referred to the Goa Marathi Film Festival (GMFF) organised by Shetye in Goa, stating that such initiatives bring artistes to the state despite the challenges involved in hosting

them independently. He said films shot in Goa tend to draw local audiences and expressed confidence that ‘Bandkhor’ would see a strong response.

The cast includes Priyadarshini Indalkar, Mrunal Kulkarni, Chhaya Kadam, Pooja Katurde, Titiksha Tawde, Raavi Kishor, Rupesh Kamat, Siddharth Bodke and Mangesh Desai, along with Mandar Jog, Neeti Kamat, Mohan Chandelkar, Siddhi Upadhye, Abhishek Mhalashi, Rohit Khandekar and Pragya Rane. Manjrekar will also appear in a special role.

Vinsan Graphic Production has previously produced Konkani film ‘Digant’ and Marathi film ‘SthalPuran’, the latter selected for the Berlin International Film Festival.
