Bicholim: Bicholim police registered a case against 11 persons from Karapur village for allegedly wrongfully confining acting sarpanch Bibi Ayesha Magod and pressuring her to either issue a show-cause notice against a mega project or resign from her post.

The action was initiated following a complaint lodged by Magod in connection with a dispute linked to the House of Abhinandan Lodha project at Sarvan.

According to police, the accused allegedly formed an unlawful assembly at the Karapur-Sarvan panchayat office and prevented Magod from carrying out official work. In her complaint, Magod alleged that she was wrongfully confined and threatened by villagers at the panchayat office.

She alleged that the group pressured her to sign a show-cause notice against the project owners or tender her resignation from the posts of acting sarpanch and deputy sarpanch.

Police said the protesters also allegedly threatened her during the incident.

Magod resigned from her post on Tuesday.
