A 30-year-old tanker cleaner from Chhattisgarh died after allegedly coming into contact with a live electric wire near Billa Cross, Verna, late on Saturday night.
Verna police said the incident occurred when a tanker was travelling from Verna towards Bambolim. As the vehicle reached Billa Cross area, there was a power outage in the
area. Moments after the power supply was restored, a live overhead wire allegedly snapped and fell onto the tanker.
The tanker driver Mubarak, and the cleaner Ankit reportedly suffered electric shocks while inside the vehicle and immediately got down.
While Mubarak escaped unhurt, Ankit allegedly came into direct contact with the live wire and was electrocuted. He sustained severe burn injuries and died on the spot.
Fire and Emergency
Services personnel and Verna police rushed to the spot and secured the area. The body was later shifted for further formalities.
Verna police have registered a case and are
conducting further investigation.
