Manchester: Erling Haaland continued his red-hot scoring form with a brace as Manchester City began their Champions League campaign with a 2-0 win over Porto, while Kylian Mbappe also found the net as Real Madrid edged Inter Milan 2-1 on Tuesday.

Haaland struck two minutes into the second half with a header before side-footing his second in stoppage time at Estadio do Dragao. The Norwegian, who has scored five goals in his last three games, took his Champions League tally to 59 goals in 59 appearances.

Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa kept City at bay in the opening period, but Haaland eventually found a way through as new coach Enzo Maresca maintained his 100 per cent start.

At the Santiago Bernabeu, Mbappe put 15-time champions Real Madrid ahead after 14 minutes, moving level with club great Raul on 71 Champions League goals.

Federico Valverde doubled Madrid’s advantage after an Inter defensive error, before Carlos Augusto pulled one back in the 77th minute. Inter enjoyed 61 per cent possession but could not find an equaliser.
