The district election authorities of South Goa and Kushavati have urged recognised political parties to actively support the Special Summary Revision (SSR) of electoral rolls by coordinating with election officials, creating voter awareness and ensuring the timely submission of claims and objections.
At separate meetings with party representatives, District Election Officer and South Goa Collector Egna Cleetus, and District Election Officer and Kushavati Collector Gurudas S T Desai, outlined the revision schedule and the role of political parties and Booth Level Agents (BLAs) in the exercise. The integrated draft electoral rolls are scheduled to be published on November 12. Claims and objections will be accepted from November 12 to December 11, and are expected to be disposed of by December 28. The final electoral rolls will be published on January 4, 2027.
Both district election authorities urged political parties to publicise the schedule and encourage eligible citizens to participate in the revision exercise. They said cooperation from party representatives and BLAs was necessary to ensure the accuracy of the electoral rolls.
At the South Goa meeting, Cleetus urged political parties to help eligible electors verify their names in the draft rolls and assist those whose names were missing in submitting the required applications.
Voter awareness initiatives and the organisation of camps were also discussed.
The meeting further reviewed the rationalisation and rearrangement of polling stations.
At the Kushavati meeting, Desai urged party representatives to encourage young and other eligible citizens to enrol as voters.
Representatives were informed that special camps would be held on November 28 and 29, and December 5 and 6, as part of the revision exercise.
Political parties were also urged to encourage citizens to visit EVM Demonstration Centres to gain practical experience in operating Electronic Voting Machines.
