DKA releases two books at Tivim

Dalgado Konknni Akademi (DKA) organised a book release function at St. Christopher’s Church, Tivim, where two Konkani books authored by Annie de Colvale were unveiled in the presence of literary enthusiasts and members of the community.

The first book, ‘Ghostachem Rand Ruchin Jev,’ is a Goan recipe book celebrating traditional cuisine, local flavours and culinary heritage in Romi Konkani published by DKA, while the second, ‘Jivit Ek Pustok,’ a reflective work on life and personal journeys, a collection of poems published by Colvale. Writer, Vincy Quadros spoke on the book ‘Jivit Ek Pustok’ while writer, Irene Cardozo spoke on the book ‘Ghostachem Rand Ruchin Jev.’

The DKA former president, Celso Fernandes, who was also the chief guest, highlighted the commendable work carried out by the Akademi in promoting Romi Konkani. He encouraged the audience to cultivate the habit of reading and writing to further strengthen the language. Parish priest of St. Christopher’s Church, Tivim, Fr. Francisco Fernandes, as the guest of honour, praised the author for her contribution to Romi Konkani literature. Melissa Simoes gave a brief introduction about the chief guest whilst Merlin Dsouza gave an introduction about the guest of honour.

President of the DKA, Fr. Myron Jeson Barreto appreciated the audience for their support towards Romi Konkani. He emphasised that as more books are published, greater appreciation and readership should follow.

The programme began with a welcome address by DKA secretary Agnelo Borim. The vote of thanks was proposed by Anthony San Fernandes, while Daffodil Fernandes compered the event. The function concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.
