The 800-year-old spiritual energy of Pandharpur is all set to come alive in Goa as Pancham Nishad brings its devotional music initiative, Bolava Vitthal, to Panaji. Scheduled on the eve of Ashadhi Ekadashi— July 4, 6 p.m.—the concert will take place at the Dinanath Mangeshkar Auditorium (Kala Mandir) at Kala Academy Goa.

Pancham Nishad is a cultural institution dedicated to presenting innovative and meaningful musical experiences rooted in the country’s artistic traditions. Through its thematic productions and nationwide initiatives, it has worked towards making Indian classical and devotional music accessible to diverse audiences.

Over the years, Bolava Vitthal has evolved into a cherished musical tribute to the Bhakti tradition offering audiences an opportunity to experience the profound devotion and collective spirit of the annual Pandharpur Wari through music.

The programme celebrates the timeless poetry of saints such as Sant Dnyaneshwar, Sant Tukaram, Sant Namdev, Sant Eknath, Sant Janabai, and Sant Chokhamela.

This year’s Goa edition brings together two of India’s most distinguished voices in Hindustani classical and devotional music. Devaki Pandit, who is known for her expressive artistry will present the abhang tradition while Jayateerth Mevundi is a contemporary exponent of the Kirana gharana celebrated for his powerful renditions that embody the emotional intensity intrinsic to Bhakti music.

They will be accompanied by Dayesh Kossambe (tabla), Gopal Prabhu (harmonium), Dattaraj Shetye (pakhawaj), Sunil Avachat (flute), and Rahul Khandolkar (additional rhythms).

Speaking about the Goa presentation, founder-director of Pancham Nishad, Shashi Vyas says, “Bolava Vitthal is not merely a musical presentation; it is an endeavour to preserve and share the profound philosophy embodied in the poetry of our saint-poets. Through music, we seek to recreate the spiritual energy of the Pandharpur Wari and offer audiences an experience that is at once deeply personal and beautifully collective. Goa has always welcomed this initiative with warmth, and we are delighted to return on the eve of Ashadhi Ekadashi.”

Tickets are available on BookMyShow and at the venue box office.
