The Crime Branch has filed a chargesheet in the fifth case against Soham Naik (20) in connection with an alleged sexual abuse case involving a minor girl before the Goa Children’s
Court in Panaji.

Naik, a resident of Cacora, Curchorem, was booked in five cases of alleged sexual assault involving women, including minor girls. The accused is currently
in judicial custody.

Naik was arrested on March 22 by the Curchorem police, which had registered three FIRs. The following day, the cases were transferred to the Crime Branch at Ribandar, which subsequently registered two more FIRs.

One case was registered based on a media report, while the remaining four FIRs were registered following complaints
filed by victims.

Referring to the FIRs, police had said that the accused allegedly sent obscene content to a victim through a social media platform, while the other three cases pertain to alleged sexual abuse. Police said three of the victims were minors, while one was
19 years old.

The accused allegedly lured innocent girls under the pretext of friendship, police sources had said.

Earlier, police had filed a chargesheet in a case registered after a sexually explicit video was found on the accused’s mobile phone. The chargesheet was filed before the Judicial Magistrate First Class, Quepem.

Apart from this, in another case pertaining to the alleged sexual abuse of a 17-year-old girl, police, after conducting an investigation, submitted a detailed report before the Juvenile Justice Board against the accused, as he was 17 years old at the time of the alleged incident.
