A Gujarat tourist was allegedly stabbed to death by his friend following a dispute over an objectionable remark about the latter’s wife, in Tivaiwaddo, Calangute on Saturday morning, the police said.  The main accused has been arrested, while three others
are absconding.

The deceased Rajbhar Ravinarayan Ramdarshanbhai was a native of Surat, Gujarat. The accused Komal Baraskar (28), a resident of Madhya Pradesh, was later arrested from Vasco. Efforts are underway to trace the
remaining accused.

Superintendent of Police (North) Harishchandra Madkaikar said the victim and the accused had come to Goa from Mumbai in search of a job at a casino. He said an argument broke out after the victim allegedly made objectionable remarks about the accused’s wife, leading to a fight in their room before the victim tried to escape.

In a bid to flee, he ran across the road and entered the compound of a nearby resort through their side gate. He was however, chased by the four accused. Baraskar allegedly caught up with him and stabbed him, the police said. He sustained a stab injury to the chest and died on the spot.

The accused then fled the scene after disposing of the knife in a swimming pool.

Police said the incident occurred before 6 am near the swimming pool of the resort. On learning of the incident, the police rushed to the spot and was followed by the forensic team.

Police said the incident was captured on CCTV cameras, and relevant footage has been seized.
