The body of an unidentified man was found under suspicious circumstances in a field at Morod side of Bodgini in Mapusa
on Saturday morning,
police said.

The body had visible
injury marks on the face, and one ear was found severed and missing, raising suspicion of foul play. Mapusa police have registered a case of unnatural death and initiated
an investigation.

The incident came to light after a local resident spotted the body lying in a field near the road leading to Morod and alerted the authorities. A police team led by PI Naveen Desai reached the spot and conducted a panchanama.

A dog squad and fingerprint experts were pressed into service as part of the probe. Police said the nature of the injuries indicates the possibility of murder.
