Panaji: The Tourism Department has once again warned of penalties and fines if C and D category hotels registered with the department fail to ensure timely and regular submission of tourist check-in data through the Tourist Information Management Enterprise (TIME) application.

Tourism Director Kedar Naik said the reminder was issued after it was observed that only 40 per cent of these hotels were submitting data on the TIME application.

Teams comprising Tourism Department officials will conduct inspections and site visits across the state to verify submission of tourist data on the TIME application, validity of registration licences, and compliance with applicable tourism regulations. The department stated that submission of guest check-in data is mandatory under the Goa Tourist Trade Registration Act.

“Despite repeated reminders and notices, it has been observed that several hotels have been negligent in complying with this requirement. Such non-compliance hampers effective tourism management and data monitoring,” the department said, directing all concerned establishments to strictly adhere to the requirement.

“Failure to submit the required data will attract penalties and fines as per the provisions of the Act,” it warned.

The department also observed that a number of hotels and guest houses are operating without a valid registration licence.

“Such unauthorised operations are a violation of the law and will invite strict action, including closure and legal proceedings,” the department said.
