Two injured in clash at Mapusa; four detained

Two youths were injured in a clash between two groups during a Holi event held at Bodgini in Mapusa on Wednesday night.

Mapusa police have detained four persons for questioning in connection with the incident.

Police said the incident occurred at around 8.30 pm when a scuffle broke out between two groups from Saligao and Mapusa during the celebrations. The altercation reportedly turned violent after an alcohol bottle was thrown at one of the victims, while another youth was physically assaulted.

Both injured youths were rushed to the District Hospital for treatment.

Upon receiving information, a team from Mapusa police station reached the spot and brought the situation under control. Four persons were detained for questioning in connection with the assault.

Police said further investigation is in progress.
