Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday said the BJP would respond to the opposition’s campaign by taking the work and schemes of the state and central governments directly to the people during a month-long outreach programme. “The BJP government in Goa is transparent, and hence the question of exposing my government does not arise. The infrastructure and human-resource development undertaken by the double-engine government are there for everyone to see. There is nothing left for the opposition to expose,” Sawant said.

Sawant was responding to Goa Forward Party president Vijai Sardesai, who had said the Goa Forward Party-Aam Aadmi Party alliance would expose the BJP government in the days to come. Sardesai made the statement a day after the two parties forged an alliance.

Under the month-long campaign, from September 17 to October 17, BJP workers will reach out to citizens from Canacona to Pernem and speak about government schemes and welfare initiatives. “My government has worked in every sector, including health and education,” Sawant said.

“On the occasion of the birthday of Prime Minister we have decided to commence the Seva Se Sankalp Abhiyan. For one month, we bring the overall development achieved by the double-engine government to the fore,” he said.

Sawant said the outreach campaign was a collective decision of the party. Asked about the Congress’ Goem Rakhon Yatra, he said, “Let the Congress and the GFP-AAP alliance do whatever they want,” he said.

Referring to welfare measures for persons with disabilities, Sawant said the government had started providing assistive equipment free of cost to children with special needs in Goa through the Pradhan Mantri Divyasha Kendra initiative.
