Poriat: Calangute Association dented Geno FC’s title hopes as they were held to a 1-1 draw in the GPL Super League at Poriat ground.

With the draw, Geno remain in third place with 31 points from 17 matches, while Sporting Clube de Goa lead the table with 40 points, followed by CD Salgaocar with 38 from the same number of matches.

Geno took the lead five minutes before half-time when Calangute keeper Aditya Sharma rushed out of his area and brought down Deeshank Kunkalikar, conceding a penalty. Vasim Inamdar stepped up and calmly converted from the spot to make it 1-0.

Calangute responded strongly after the break and found the equaliser around the hour mark. Sheldon Pereira showed composure under pressure to slip a precise pass through to Arun Naik, who controlled well and finished cleanly past the goalkeeper to restore parity, ensuring both sides walked away with a point after a hard-fought contest.
