Seniors emerge champions defeating Juniors 6-1 in final

Mapusa: Dempo Sports Club emerged champions of the Goa Monsoon Football Premier League after a 6-1 win over Dempo

Sports Club Juniors at Duler Stadium, Mapusa on Sunday.

The Juniors shocked the senior side early, captain Topan Minj striking in the 4th minute to make it 1-0. But the lead was short-lived. Vishal Chavan equalised in the 8th minute, and Pradip Kullu – the team’s ever-reliable playmaker – added another in the 24th minute to send Dempo SC into halftime with a narrow 2-1 advantage.

After the break, the seniors turned up the heat. Chavan bagged his second in the 38th minute, captain Murphy Fernandes extended the lead with a smart finish in the 42nd, before Swavel Furtardo (54’) and Favio Martins (60’) sealed the rout.

Fernandes and Chavan finished as joint top scorers of the tournament with six goals each, while Kullu’s consistent midfield displays were central to Dempo’s title run. For the Juniors, Minj led by example, supported by standout performers Ashon Vaz and Jonathan Silva.
