They register contrasting semifinal wins against Margao CC, Chowgule SC

Porvorim: Geno Sports Club and Salgaocar Cricket Club sealed their spots in the final after defeating Margao Cricket Club and Chowgule Sports Club respectively, and will now go head-to-head in the day-night title clash on May 1.

At Porvorim, Geno SC defeated Margao Cricket Club in a Super Over after both sides were tied on 257. Margao CC made 257 in 39.5 overs, led by Deepraj Gaonkar (80) and Rajshekhar Harikant (56), with Chigurupati Venkata adding 30. Samarth Rane and Mehank Dharwadkar claimed four wickets each.

Geno matched the total in 38.2 overs, with Kaushal Hattangadi (86*) anchoring the innings after a brisk 50 from Veer Yadav, while Pundalik Naik (30) and Vikas Singh (29) chipped in. Anuj Yadav, Heramb Parab and Gaonkar took two wickets apiece.

Geno then dominated the Super Over, scoring 34 through Vikas Singh (34*), while Margao managed 19 despite Gaonkar’s three sixes.

In the other semi-final at Sanguem-Kotarli, Salgaocar CC beat Chowgule Sports Club by 26 runs.

Salgaocar posted 250/6 in 39 overs, built around Piyush Yadav (64), Shantanu Nevagi (57), Yogesh Kauthankar (47*) and Tunish Sawkar (37), with Shubham Desai taking two wickets.

Chowgule were bowled out for 224 in 36.4 overs despite Gauresh Kambli’s 65 and useful contributions from Madhur Yadav (42), Vinayak Kunte (34*) and Sanath Nevagi (30). Gauresh Nagvekar (4/47) and Amulya Pandrekar (2/24) led the Salgaocar bowling effort.
