Nihal 40*, Vikas 39* power their win over Chowgule

Panaji: Defending champions Geno Sports Club opened their Bandodkar League T20 campaign with a four-wicket win over Chowgule Sports Club in a run-fest organised by Panjim Gymkhana on Tuesday.

Set a target of 213, Geno overhauled the score in 17.3 overs, riding on a decisive unbeaten 71-run seventh-wicket stand between Nihal Surlakar and Vikas Singh. Kaushal Hattangadi set the tone with a brisk 51 off 31 balls before Surlakar changed the game with an explosive unbeaten 40 from just 13 deliveries. Vikas Singh provided strong support at the other end with 39 not out off 17 balls.

Earlier, Chowgule posted 212/7 after Madhur Yadav struck 73 off 42 balls, while Shivendra Bhujbal smashed 36 off only 10 deliveries. Pundalik Naik claimed three wickets for Geno and Surlakar added two to complete an impressive all-round outing.
