Gujarat Titans rode on an outstanding all-round display from Jason Holder to seal a nervy four-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their Indian Premier League match here on Thursday.
Holder (2/29) also grabbed three sharp catches as GT bowled out RCB for 155 in 19.2 overs. Virat Kohli led the charge early with a brisk 28 off 13 balls, taking 21 runs off an over from Kagiso Rabada, but his dismissal triggered a collapse. From 71/2, RCB slipped to 96/6, with Arshad Khan (3/22) and Rashid Khan (2/19) doing the damage. Devdutt Padikkal top-scored with 40.
In reply, Shubman Gill (43 off 18) set the tone with an aggressive start, while Jos Buttler (39 off 19) capitalised after an early reprieve. Despite losing wickets in the middle overs, GT stayed ahead of
the rate.
Holder then provided stability with a brief cameo before Rahul Tewatia (27 not out) held his nerve to guide the chase, as GT reached 158/6 in 15.5 overs.
Earlier, Bhuvneshwar Kumar reached the 350-wicket mark in T20s, becoming only the second Indian after Yuzvendra Chahal to achieve the feat.
RCB remained second in the table with 12 points, and GT too was static on fifth but added two valuable points to swell their tally to 10 after this game.
