Goa University secured third place at the West Zone Inter-University Women’s Football Championship 2025-26 played at Rewa, Madhya Pradesh. They now advance to the All India Inter-University Championship.

Hosted by Awadhesh Pratap Singh University from February 9 to 13, the tournament saw Goa University edge Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University 1-0 in the third-place playoff, with Aniela Barretto scoring the decisive goal.

In the league stage, Goa University drew 0-0 with Savitribai Phule Pune University before defeating University of Mumbai 3-0. Barretto struck twice while Blessica Rodrigues added the third, with Barretto earning Player of the Match honours.

A narrow 0-1 loss to Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education in their final league fixture ended their title hopes.

Savitribai Phule Pune University finished first, Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education second, Goa University third and University of Mumbai fourth.

Goa University will now compete at the All India Inter-University Women’s Football Championship 2025-26 at Annamalai University from February 20 to 25.

The squad comprised Simran Narvekar, Tanvi Parulekar, Geuel D’Souza, Saniya Pednekar, Vidhita Gadekar, Elena Pereira, Aaroshi Govekar, Blessica Rodrigues, Pearl Ruby De Almeida, Aniela Barretto, Kanwiskha Rekdo, Ria Pinto, Ajury Ruth Silva, Swellen Fernandes, Merecia Tavares, Shaundelle Gomes, Ria Rajesh, Vinoshka Fernandes, Vansisha Vaz, Tanvi Khedekar, Riya Patre and Kajal Jadhav.
