Dodum’s brace helps them clinch a 3-0 win and  reach semifinal

Panaji: India delivered a clinical second-half performance to defeat Pakistan 3-0 and seal a place in the semi-finals of the SAFF U-20 Championship on Thursday, knocking out their arch-rivals in the process.

The Blue Colts made a dream start, taking the lead as early as the third minute through Vishal Yadav, who showed sharp control inside the box before finishing at the near post. Despite the early breakthrough, India struggled to build on their advantage in the first half, with Pakistan creating the better openings but failing to convert.

Pakistan came out with intent after the break, pushing forward in search of an equaliser, but India’s defence held firm under pressure. The turning point arrived in the 64th minute when substitute Rishi made an immediate impact, setting up Dodum, who doubled the lead with a well-timed header.

With Pakistan committing numbers forward, spaces began to open up, and India capitalised late in the game. In the 84th minute, Prashan Jajo was brought down inside the box, and Dodum stepped up to calmly convert the penalty, completing his brace and putting the result beyond doubt.

Pakistan’s attacking intent throughout the second half lacked the finishing touch, as India’s efficiency in front of goal proved decisive.

With the win, India march into the semi-finals with confidence and will next face Bangladesh on March 28, while Pakistan bow out after an inconsistent campaign.
