Sanquelim: Captain Snehal Kauthankar’s composed 89 anchored Dempo Cricket Club to 262 on Day 1 of the second round of the Goa Premier League, even as Salgaocar CC and Geno SC gained the upper hand in their respective encounters on Thursday.

He found support from Mohit Yadav (35), Aaditya Kota (28) and Saniket Palkar (25), helping the side post a competitive total in 87.3 overs. Margao CC, however, struck back through Anuj Yadav, who ran through the line-up with an impressive six-wicket haul, while Rudresh Sharma chipped in with two. Margao are yet to begin their reply.

At the GCA ground in Porvorim, Geno Sports Club dominated proceedings with the bat, piling up 309 in 69.1 overs.
