Marsh masterclass powers LSG win

His explosive hundred helps them edge past RCB by nine runs

Lucknow: Lucknow Super Giants finally snapped their six-match losing streak with a nine-run win over Royal Challengers Bengaluru in a rain-hit IPL 2026 clash at the Ekana Stadium on Wednesday night.

After multiple rain interruptions reduced the contest to 19 overs a side, Lucknow rode on a magnificent century from Mitchell Marsh to post a formidable total before holding off a spirited late charge from RCB.

Marsh dominated from the outset, hammering bowlers to all parts with a breathtaking assault that included a 49-ball hundred. The Australian all-rounder smashed towering sixes off Josh Hazlewood, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Krunal Pandya as Lucknow surged past 100 inside 11 overs. He eventually departed for 111 before a late cameo from Rishabh Pant, who blasted an unbeaten 32 off just 10 balls, lifted LSG beyond the 200-mark.

Chasing a revised target of 213, RCB suffered an early collapse after Prince Yadav produced a stunning delivery to dismiss Virat Kohli for a duck — his first IPL duck since 2023. Earlier, Jacob Bethell also fell cheaply as the visitors slipped to 9/2.

Skipper Rajat Patidar counterattacked brilliantly, bringing up a rapid half-century and taking apart the spinners to keep RCB alive in the chase. However, Prince Yadav returned to trigger a collapse by removing Devdutt Padikkal and Jitesh Sharma in the same over.

RCB still threatened through Krunal Pandya and Romario Shepherd in the closing overs, but Digvesh Rathi held his nerve at the death to seal a crucial victory for Lucknow.

The win kept Lucknow’s fading campaign alive while denying Bengaluru the chance to move to the top of the points table.
