Mark Carvalho scores at the death for Flaming Oranje; GASC hold Churchill Bros

Nagoa: Sporting Clube de Goa secured a crucial 1-0 victory against Cortalim Villagers SWSC in a tense Goa Professional League encounter at Nagoa ground on Wednesday, with Mark Carvalho scoring a dramatic 90+3’ minute winner.

Alister Fernandes received a yellow card during the intense proceedings followed by another in the 82nd minute, leaving Cortalim down 10 men. The match remained scoreless until the dying moments, when Carvalho broke Cortalim’s resistance, ensuring three critical points for his team. Vikram Venkatachalam, Ivon Costa, Alton Vaz, and Joyson Gauncar from the Flaming Oranje caught the referees ire.

The victory consolidates Sporting Clube’s position at the top of the league. With 38 points from 15 games, they lead the table, maintaining a slim advantage over second-placed Dempo SC, themselves on 28 points from 17 games.

Meanwhile, in the relegation league match at Benaulim, Churchill Brothers played out a drab 0-0 draw against Guardian Angel SC.
