The alleged land grab accused Siddhique alias Suleiman Khan (54) on Wednesday requested that the ‘custody escape case’ be handed over to the CBI, while reiterating his innocence.
Old Goa police have already filed a chargesheet in the custody escape case.
Khan, who was brought to the court in Panaji on Wednesday, threw some handwritten notes outside the court.
There were two letters, one 2-page letter while another 5-page letter addressed to the media. The letters were seized by the police.
As per sources, Khan in the letters has claimed that he has been falsely implicated in the land grab cases and that he owns those properties. He also said that the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant is defaming him by levelling false accusations before the media saying that Khan is a habitual offender and a criminal.
“This is not true, but when it appears in the newspaper and the top minister is saying it, the normal people will tend to believe it,” said Khan in one of the letters. Khan claimed that he is a builder and had assisted a police officer in constructing a house for which a balance of around Rs 46 lakh was pending.
Khan said that he had called a media house last month from the STD smart card facility from the Central Jail, Colvale.
Sources said that Khan said that once again he was threatened by police officials from the crime branch last month asking to withdraw the statements of threatening at gunpoint by police.
“If anything happens to me in jail, these ministers and officers should be held responsible,” Khan said.
