Chief Minister Pramod Sawant attended the 44th convocation ceremony of Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth, where he was conferred an honorary Doctor of Literature (D Litt) by the institution.

Sawant said he was pleased to receive the honour from the university founded on the ideals and vision of Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak, whom he described as one of the foremost architects of India’s national awakening.

He also said he was happy to join the distinguished company of eminent personalities from Goa such as Kishori Amonkar, Raghunath Mashelkar and Anil Kakodkar, who have previously been conferred the honour by the Vidyapeeth.

Sawant said it was a matter of immense pride to receive the honour from his alma mater and dedicated the recognition to the people of Goa.

He said their trust and support continue to inspire his journey in public service. He also dedicated the honour to his teachers, whose guidance shaped his values and path in life.

The chief minister congratulated A Maheshkhumar Reddy and Hemant Oberoi, who were also awarded honorary D Litt degrees at the
ceremony.

He extended his congratulations and best wishes to the graduating students and said their knowledge, determination and commitment would help
build a brighter future for the nation.
